According to an article in the Beverley Guardian on 2nd April 2010, the council are investigating what happened to the 400 signature petition that was handed-in to them early in 2009. The loss of this petition was first brought to the attention of the ERYC in December 2009, but was first mentioned at the Local Community Hospital Liaison meeting  on 30 November 2009.

Why is this investigation taking so long?

As mentioned previously, the existence of this petition was presumably unknown to the councillors when they took the decision to grant Outline Planning Permission on 17th September 2009. If they had known about its existence, would it have affected their decision?

Beverley and Holderness MP, Graham Stuart,  has now been made aware of the ‘missing’ residents petition. His comments on 17th March 2010, were:

‘I don’t see that there has been any serious failing in procedure which warrants investigation. (17.3. 2010)

At last, the Beverley Gu’ardian agreed to publish this article. Why though, won’t they tell the people of Driffield this story too? It has not been placed in either the Driffield Times or the Driffield Post.  It is their hospital  too!

Does anyone care that over 400 residents didn’t want this hospital built on this site?
